Tech Today #1 - What's App Down 2018, Amazon vs Google, Mi A1, OnePlus 5

1. Face Unlock feature in OnePlus 5 as 5T

OnePlus really didn't waste any time fulfilling its promise of bringing the 5T's Face Unlock feature to the original 5. The smartphone maker has rolled out an OxygenOS beta that lets OnePlus 5 owners sign in with a quick glimpse at their phone, just like those with newer handsets. This isn't a stable release, so you probably don't want to install this if you can't afford to deal with glitches, but it beats waiting weeks into 2018 to give the feature a try.

2.WhatsApp Not Working ? on New Year 2018

“WhatsApp users around the world experienced a brief outage today that has now been resolved”, a WhatsApp spokeswoman said in an emailed statement. The cause of the outage, about an hour long, was not immediately known.
In India, its biggest market with about 200 million of its billion-plus users, the app was down just a few minutes past midnight into the new year.

3. Google Blocked YouTube From Amazon Fire TV

Google has blocked YouTube on Amazon's Fire TV earlier than expected amid growing rivalry between the two tech giants as their businesses continue to overlap.

The move is in retaliation to Amazon's refusal to sell some Google products that compete with the retailer's gadgets, and Fire TV devices now encourage people to access YouTube via one of the gadget's web browsers instead, the Dailymail reported.

4. Apple iPhone : Top Selling Product of 2017 - Survey

Apple’s iPhone has been crowned as the best-selling tech product of 2017, according to a USA Today report. The iPhone was followed by Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and Note 8, Amazon Echo Dot, Apple Watch, and Nintendo Switch. The publication worked with Daniel Ives, an analyst with GBH Insights, to prepare the sales data.

4. Xiaomi Mi A1 : Oreo 8.0 Update

Xiaomi is now rolling out the stable Android Oreo update for the Mi A1 phone in India, making it one of the first phones under Rs 15,000 to run version 8.0 of the operating system. Xiaomi, to recall, had previously announced that the Mi A1 will get Oreo by the end of 2017 and in line with its promise, the company started rolling out the update from December 31, 2017. Because it's a phased roll-out, not all Mi A1 phones across the board, will be getting the new update at the same time, according to the company.
