Andy Rubin's Essential Phone Revealed with edge-to-edge Display,Stunning Looks and Modular Accessories
The Father of Android Andy Rubin comes with new project. Essential, Rubin's new company launched a new handset. The Smartphone was unveiled on the official Essential.com site earlier today dated 30th May 2017 which outlined all the key details about the upcoming device.
The Smartphone features a stylish edge-to-edge display which makes this device looks stunning and compact look instead of having 5.71 inch huge display size. The flushed camera design keeps the phone free of any unsightly bumps and a important factor is that this device have two magnetic pins at the back for several modular attachments as well.
As mentioned, there’s also a pair of magnetic back pins for a modular accessory system that will "keep your phone cord-free, future-proof, and always up-to-date." The pins will act as a click cordless connector that will hook up to Essential’s two modular accessories launched alongside – the 360-degree camera and its Essential Phone Dock. This modular system reminds us of Moto Mods – Lenovo’s efforts at creating modular accessory category in the market. There’s no 3.5mm audio jack on the Essential Phone (though it ships with a USB Type-C adapter), so we can expect Rubin and company to launch more such modular accessories to specifically amp up the audio game.
Coming to the Specifications of Essential phone, inside you’ll find a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor with Adreno 540 GPU, 4 GB of RAM, and 128 GB of internal storage space. Meanwhile, the display comes in at 5.71-inches, with a 19:10 aspect ratio and 2560 x 1312 pixel resolution (almost QHD) with Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
There’s an 8 MP front-facing camera with 4K recording
and on the back is a dual 13 MP camera setup with f/1.85, similar to the Huawei
P9. The battery comes in at 3,040 mAh and the handset will feature USB Type-C,
but it won’t house a 3.5 mm headphone jack (though it will come with an adapter
in the box). In addition, the device will launch with Android 7.1.1 Nougat out
of the box and include NFC capabilities.
As mentioned, the company also launched a miniature
360-degree camera alongside. It sticks to the Essential Phone with the help of
the magnetic pins at the back, and lets you record 360-degree content from your
smartphone.— capable of shooting UHD (3840 x 1920) video at
30fps — and a charging dock. These connect to the device via metal pins, and
further accessories are said to follow after the device launch.
The Essential Phone is made
available in Black Moon, Stellar Grey, Pure White, and Ocean Depths color
options. The price of the smartphone starts at $699 (roughly Rs. 45,200), but
you can buy it with a 360-degree camera for $749 (roughly Rs. 48,400).
Alongside,
Rubin has also launched the Essential Home – a smart speaker with a big round
display that runs on the brand new Ambient OS.
